The unity of a family doesnt seem to be as important as it used to be. Outdoor games are not as popular as they used to be. Spectators form a lot larger group than players. Some families, though, still see the importance of these types of games. Computers and video games often keep people from bonding like they used to do. While many people feel that computers and video games are necessary there are times when other activities should be engaged in, too. Catching up with one anothers busy lives can be accomplished during backyard games.
One of the most enjoyable and simplest of backyard games is badminton. This is played with rackets. Most people think that badminton rackets and tennis rackets are identical but often they are not. A net is erected and players volley back and forth with a plastic object called a shuttlecock. Sometimes this shuttlecock is also called a birdie. Players keep score, but sometimes individuals simply hit the birdie back and forth for fun. As long as the game is fun, scoring is not that critical. These kinds of games strengthen family unity and bring individuals closer to one another. Very often this cannot be accomplished in todays society. There is much value in spending quality time with family and friends.
Another game that is good for family enjoyment and unity is horeshoes. Horseshoes is an easy game for anyone to play. People of all ages can play horseshoes together. This makes it a very good game for grandparents and their grandchildren to play. There is no age limit on the fun of horseshoes. Children and grown children enjoy horseshoes. A lot of people have forgotten the fun of these games. The goal of these kinds of games is to bring families and friends together.
Some family games are more popular than others. One of the less common games for family unity is
cornhole. The cornhole game requires skill at tossing a bean bag into a hole. There are points for getting the bag through the hole. Having the bag land on the board and stay there can also earn points. The game sounds simple, but it requires some skill. Twenty-one is the magic number for winning the game. Two teams of two players each can also play against each other. If this is done two cornhole boards are used.
Internationally, the washers game has a following. Many people are not aware of the game. Many people couldnt tell someone else how the game started. It was been said that a bet started this game. A bet was made that a washer could be thrown into a distant can. There is no guarantee that this is true, but it makes a good story. The basic design of the game has not changed, despite the rules that have been created for it. The washers are still thrown into a can to get points. Players receive points for both direct hits and closeness to the can.
